I'm still heavily engaged in the notion of the figure in the landscape, usually solitary but occasionally with one other. The work of David Parks has had a huge influence on me this summer both the paint application and the subject matter. The latter is usually people he has a close relationship with and the former is his bete noir, his struggle...the paint and how he applies it. His biography 'A Painter's Life' by Nancy Boas was a brilliant read and his work ethic and cravings to improve were/are a huge inspiration.
