Making a painting. Sept 2013.
This series of 12 paintings shows the development of one of my paintings. It's evolution has/is taking place over a few months and changed direction in the very early stages. The work is linked to an ongoing theme in my work at the moment with the umbrella title of 'Limited Space'.

The following series is the work from my MFA 2012 at Newcastle University.
I'm pleased that I'm getting the opportunity to show some of the series again at the Parallax Art Fair at Chelsea Town Hall on the King's Rd on 17th/18th/19th October 2013.
My work is an ongoing attempt to represent the tensions and anxieties of individuals and their relationships to each other. I have called this series 'Limited Space', endeavoring to comment on the space we inhabit and the people we find ourselves in close contact with, in a literal and psychological sense.
By incorporating abstraction into the painting of a figure I'm bringing to mind the 'push/pull' effect of colour and shape and taking pleasure from the versatility of oil paint to suggest and aid the imagination.
